Buying Appliances

• When buying a new or used appliance, the first thing you should check is the label.
• Ensure it has an approval label from an authorized agency such as the Canadian Standards Association (CSA) or Electrical Safety Authority Special Inspection.
• If the appliance is used, check it over carefully to make sure it is still electrically safe and that the wiring has not become exposed, frayed, or nicked.
