Kids Safety
Electricity is a wonderful thing and is very important in making us feel comfortable in our homes and at school. However, if we are careless or disrespectful of electricity, it can be extremely dangerous and accidents that could have been easily avoided can occur.
Because of its nature, electricity travels at the speed of light (300,000 km/second). By the time you make contact with electricity, it is usually too late to react. You will receive a shock, or worse, electrocution and possibly death.
Electricity is not very forgiving and most people are not given a second chance, so please learn to be concerned for your safety and the safety of others.
A conductor is a material that allows the flow of electricity to pass through it easily, such as wire, metals, and water. People are good conductors of electricity because our bodies are made up of approximately 70% water. An insulator is a material that does not allow electricity to flow through it, such as porcelain and rubber.
Electricity is always looking for the easiest path to the ground. If you touch a conductor and the ground at the same time, you can become the easiest path to the ground. DON'T BE THAT PATH.
