Storms & Natural Disasters

While we live in an area of the country where severe storms are infrequent, power supplies will occasionally be disrupted due to high winds, heavy rains, snow and ice storms.

London Hydro crews will work as quickly as possible to restore your power.

Preparation is key

Taking a little time now to make sure you are ready for a possible power disruption is a smart move that will give you greater peace of mind in a future emergency:

  • Keep enough fresh batteries on hand to power both a battery operated radio and flashlights. The radio will provide you with up-to-date information on the storm.
  • Put your flashlights in an easy to reach space and make sure everyone in your home knows where they are, so you don’t have to search for them in the dark.
  • If you are using candles, keep them away from curtains, and other flammable materials.
  • Keep a battery-powered clock ready for emergencies.
  • Fill large plastic pop bottles with water and place them in a freezer. If your power is disrupted, move the bottles to the fridge to keep food from spoiling. You can also use the water for drinking.

Do you have your storm emergency kit ready?
