Call For Conservation Continues
June 29, 2005 - London, Ontario
Due to the conservation efforts of Londoners, London Hydro’s peak demand for Tuesday, June 28 reached 684 MW, down from Monday’s all time high of 704.2 MW.
A conservation appeal from the Independent Electricity System Operator (IESO) is still in effect from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. today, asking all consumers to help reduce the electricity load as demand across the province continues to reach record highs.
As the heat wave continues throughout the week, London Hydro asks for the support of all Londoners to do their part and conserve wherever possible.
We ask that all Londoners consider setting the air conditioner to 26 degrees Celsius or higher, turning off unnecessary lights and shifting the use of major appliances such as dishwashers, washing machines, clothes dryers, and pool pumps until after 8 p.m.
London Hydro has reduced the usage in our office buildings by adjusting air conditioning to higher temperatures and shutting off all unnecessary light where natural light is available. The business community in London is encouraged to take similar action to help reduce electricity usage during this extreme weather.
