Your London Hydro Bill Can Tell You A Lot
Your London Hydro bill will look similar to this. The top portion of the bill is returned with your payment. The lower two thirds of your statement provides a detailed summary of your account that you should hold on to for your records.
1. CUSTOMER NAME AND ADDRESS
Located on the left side of the statement. If you are the person receiving the invoice, this is where you will see your name and mailing information.
2. ACCOUNT NUMBER
Located at the very top of the right side of the statement.
3. TOTAL AMOUNT DUE
Displays the total amount due and payment due date.Your London Hydro statement is required to be paid in full on or before your due date. You have lots of ways to pay your bill: pre-authorized payment, automatic banking machines, telephone or on-line banking services, in person at most banks and financial institutions, by mail, or simply drop it in our convenient Deposit Box. Please allow ample time for your payment to reach our office by the due date to avoid late payment charges.
- PAST DUE AMOUNTS: Please call our office at 661-5503 to avoid collection activity.
- INTEREST RATE: An interest rate of 1.5% per month will be applied (19.56% annually) to all overdue charges.
- PAYMENT IF PRE-AUTHORIZED: Indicates that you are on a pre-authorized payment plan which automatically debits the amount shown on your statement from your bank account on the date shown.
- BUDGET BILLING PLAN: Indicates that you have made arrangements to pay a fixed monthly amount based on your previous usage. This amount is subject to updates from time to time if there is any significant change in your pattern of use. For more information, contact the Billing Office at 661-5503 or click here
- ENCODED DIGITS: These are identification numbers given to us by the bank and appear along the bottom of your remittance stub. The numbers ensure that your payment reaches us when the transaction occurs at a bank instead of at our billing office.
4. BILLING SUMMARY
Displays payment information including; payment adjustments; past due amount (if any) and total charges for the current billing period.

6. CONSUMPTION USAGE GRAPH
Comparison illustrates the last 12 months' average daily consumption and compares the current billing period to the same period in the previous year.

8. WATER CHARGES & CONSUMPTION INFORMATION
- Water Charge: This is the amount of water (measured in cubic feet) used by your household during the billing period.
- Sanitary Sewer Improvement Tax: The amount of this tax is based on the volume of water consumed by your household during the billing period. This charge helps to fund the operating costs, maintenance costs and capital costs for the City of London's sanitary systems, pollution control and treatment plants.
- Storm Sewer Improvement Tax: This is a flat rate fee that is directed toward funding the operating costs, maintenance costs and capital costs for the storm sewer systems.
- Water Meter Charge: After April 1, 2004, the City of London increased water rates for all customers by approximately 3%. Water meter charges were also added to your bill after this date. The water meter charge covers the timely replacement of residential water meters to ensure accuracy, fairness and accountability.
London Hydro bills customers for water and sewage usage on behalf of the City of London, but it is not responsible for providing water or sewer services. These services are owned, operated and maintained by the City of London.
