Refrigerators

• Temperature should be between 2°C and 5°C for efficient operation.
• Keep refrigerator full – but not overloaded – for efficient use of electricity.
• Retrieve items quickly to prevent rapid loss of cold air.
• Test the door seal occasionally to check that it is airtight.
• Defrost frozen food in the refrigerator to help keep it cool and save energy otherwise used defrosting in a microwave oven.
• A second, older refrigerator can be very inefficient.
