Regulated Price Plan Time-of-Use Rates - Effective May 1, 2012

London Hydro customers are now paying Regulated Price Plan (RPP) Time-of-Use rates. Under the ToU RPP, the Ontario Energy Board sets three prices for your electricity consumption. Prices are subject to change every six months. The rates you pay for electricity are based on the time of day that you use it.

Your smart meter records how much electricity you use and when you use it. The Time-of-Use rates are broken down into three distinct categories, each having specific times of the day:

  1. On Peak - 11.7 cents per kWh - When demand for electricity is highest (Weekdays: 11 AM - 5 PM)
  2. Mid Peak - 10 cents per kWh - When demand for electricity is moderate (Weekdays: 7 AM - 11 AM and 5 PM - 7 PM)
  3. Off-Peak - 6.5 cents per kWh - When demand for electricity is lowest (Weekdays: 7 PM - 7 AM, Weekends and Holidays - 24 HOURS)

Time-of-Use pricing rewards you for using electricity during low-demand periods whenever possible. The lowest rates are at night, on weekends and statutory holidays.

Equipment such as wires and transformers consume power before it gets to your home or business. The adjustment factor accounts for these losses.
