Let the Games begin! London welcomes the 2024 Ontario Summer Games presented by London Hydro

LONDON, August 1, 2024 -The Ontario Summer Games return to London, beginning today, Thursday, August 1st until Sunday, August 4th. Over 3,500 participants will take part in the London 2024 Ontario Summer Games presented by London Hydro, including 2,500 athletes aged 12-18, many of whom will be competing at their largest ever sporting event.

It all begins Thursday night at the London 2024 Ontario Summer Games presented by London Hydro Opening Ceremony which will see athletes paraded into the stadium in front of friends and family and caps off with an exciting performance from JUNO Award winner Rêve.

The rest of the weekend will see 18 sports played at over 20 venues, most of which are in London, apart from Road Cycling (Melville United Church), Triathlon (St Mary’s Quarry) and Sailing (Port Stanley Sailing Club). Flag Football (Huron Flats) and Men’s Softball (Stronach Recreation Centre) are both making their debut for the first time in the 51-year history of the Ontario Summer Games. 2024 will mark the fourth time the Games have been hosted in London. Over 500 volunteers have stepped up to support the event, showcasing the incredible pride our community has for events.

Programming has also been arranged for athletes to enjoy between games or outside the competition. This includes education sessions, private movie theatre showings, attending other sporting events and visits from therapy dogs to support mental health and reduce anxiety.
