National recognition highlights the utility's commitment to employee health and well-being
London, ON – October 23, 2026
London Hydro has received the Kii Health Award for Best Wellness Program at Canada’s Safest Employers Awards for the second consecutive year, recognizing the utility’s ongoing commitment to promoting and protecting employee health and well-being.
The award recognizes organizations across all industries that excel in supporting overall employee wellness, including fitness, nutrition and other health factors.
London Hydro’s wellness program takes a comprehensive approach to supporting physical, mental and social well-being. Employees have access to a free, 24/7 onsite fitness centre, individualized wellness coaching, preventative health services and an annual health fair, alongside initiatives that promote mental wellness, healthy eating, stress management and work-life balance.
The program also includes dedicated Wellness and Mental Wellness weeks, ergonomic assessments, confidential employee and family assistance services, and team-based challenges that encourage employees to connect with colleagues and support their community.
“Winning this award for a second consecutive year is something our entire organization can be proud of,” said Ysni Semsedini, President and CEO of London Hydro. “Our commitment to Safety First Always extends beyond physical safety. It means recognizing the importance of our employees’ overall health and well-being, and creating an environment where people feel supported. This recognition reflects the dedication of our team and the many ways our employees contribute to making wellness part of our workplace culture.”
Employee participation and community involvement are important parts of the program. In 2025, more than 100 employees took part in the Canadian Mental Health Association’s Push-Up Challenge, raising more than $18,000. The team ranked first in Ontario and second nationally in fundraising, combining physical activity and mental health awareness with meaningful community impact.
Employee feedback also reinforces the importance of this commitment. In London Hydro’s 2025 Employee Engagement Survey, 82 per cent of respondents said they were satisfied overall with working at the organization, while more than 80 per cent felt London Hydro encourages and supports a healthy work-life balance.
The program continues to evolve through employee feedback, wellness ambassadors and collaboration across the organization, helping ensure initiatives remain relevant and accessible to a diverse workforce.
“This award recognizes the people who bring our wellness program to life, from those who develop and deliver initiatives to the employees who participate and encourage one another,” added Semsedini. “Thank you to everyone who helps make employee well-being a priority.”
