Cooperative strengthens Ontario’s electricity distribution through province-wide collaboration

GridSmartCity is pleased to welcome three new local distribution company partners—Festival Hydro, InnPower, and London Hydro—marking a significant expansion of the GridSmartCity Cooperative’s province-wide collaboration and furthering its long-term commitment to strengthening Ontario’s electricity distribution sector.

This announcement builds on several years of steady growth. In 2025, GridSmartCity welcomed Bluewater Power and Lakeland Power as new partners, and in 2024 the Cooperative expanded into northern Ontario with the addition of PUC Distribution, Sudbury Hydro, and North Bay Hydro. With Festival Hydro, InnPower, and London Hydro now joining, GridSmartCity’s network will grow from 18 to 21 member utilities, representing a continually expanding footprint and stronger collective expertise across the province.

“We are thrilled to welcome Festival Hydro, InnPower, and London Hydro to GridSmartCity,” said Art Skidmore, GridSmartCity’s President. “Each of these utilities bring unique strengths, local knowledge, and a shared commitment to delivering safe, reliable and innovative services to their customers. Their addition enhances our ability to collaborate, share best practices, and deliver real value to the communities we serve.”
