Reporting to the Program Manager or designate, you will demonstrate your knowledge and experience by administrating and operating London Hydro’s head end applications for electric meter communication, Itron MV-90xi and Sensus Regional Network Interface (RNI). You will work to manage and improve the systems, their related business processes, and integrations to other systems. You will participate in operational processes and project activities to ensure the delivery of high-quality information systems solutions to London Hydro’s business users and customers. 

As a Business Systems Analyst, you can also expect to be part of the larger London Hydro team and be involved in a variety of different initiatives in the future.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

As part of your responsibilities as a Business Systems Analyst, you will:

  • Be one of the administrators and main operators of our head end data collection systems.
  • Interact with internal business users and external organizations to understand and support the needs of London Hydro’s operations and relevant processes.
  • Analyze and document business requirements for system changes.
  • Develop process flow models to provide a clear understanding of existing business processes and system interactions as well as changes to support process improvements and integrate corporate objectives.
  • Develop, test and maintain queries and scripts to support the applications.
  • Develop and maintain reporting systems to make operational and business intelligence data accessible to users, as needed or on schedule.
  • Research and document requirements, options and solutions in developing business areas, including application and meter upgrades, encryption integration, and any future development on London Hydro’s AMI systems.
  • Design and implement automation processes to improve operational efficiency.
  • Create and execute test plans to validate the correctness of information systems solutions and ensure that all business requirements have been sufficiently met.
  • Participate in projects related to base station upgrades (ongoing), system upgrades, encryption (future) and smart meter tuning.
  • Adhere to all Occupational Health and Safety Act rules and regulations, the IHSA's Electrical Utility Safety Rules, London Hydro safe work practices and procedures, and all components of London Hydro's health and safety program.

 

WHAT YOU WILL BRING

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field from a recognized university, or equivalent.
  • Ability to communicate technical subjects clearly to non-technical users.
  • Excellent communication, analytical and documentation skills.
  • Ability to work closely in a team environment with both business users and developers, as well as independently, with changing priorities.
  • Ability to appropriately manage, communicate and present issues to the management team.
  • Ability to learn quickly and the desire to analyze a problem to find your own potential solutions.
  • Knowledge and experience in power systems, and how utilities operate inside that space.
  • Project Management and team lead experience.
  • Knowledge and experience in RF mesh communications, wireless systems, FSK, IEEE 802.15.4, IEEE 802.11.
  • Knowledge and experience working with large database systems (Oracle, SQL, MYSQL).
  • Experience with head end meter collection systems (MV-90, RNI), CIS systems (SAP), and meter data management systems (ODS).
